Bhubaneswar, 17 April 2024 : With the onset of intense summer heat gripping the state, Odisha is facing soaring temperatures, with mercury levels surpassing 40 degrees Celsius in many areas. The scorching heat, coupled with continuous heatwave starting from as early as 8 am onwards, has disrupted normal life across the region.
In response to the challenging weather conditions, the government has taken proactive measures to ensure the well-being of students. The regional meteorological center’s forecast of further temperature rise has prompted authorities to announce a three-day holiday for all schools in the state.
Effective from April 18 to 20, this holiday applies to all government, government-aided, and private schools. However, amidst the closure, schools will remain operational for enrollment-related activities. The government has emphasized that teachers are expected to attend school as usual during this period.
This decision reflects the government’s commitment to prioritizing the safety and comfort of students amid adverse weather conditions.
